UMBT Girls Basketball Team

For years Upper Mt. Bethel basketball has been seen as a “second best” team to the Bangor Slaters.  This year coaches Cliff Salvemini and Kevin Pruett along with their roster of hard working, talented girls have started to make a name for themselves.  The new team consists of ten high school girls with experience under their belts.  Coming from different social groups, playing levels, and grades, the girls have come together as one on the court playing a smart, competitive game.  For most, Saturday mornings are meant for sleeping in.  But for these girls it means being ready for game time at 9 AM at “In the Zone” located in Bath, PA.  There the girls compete against well-rounded teams from throughout the Lehigh Valley and are facing some tough competition.  But the girls are bringing their game every time playing a fast paced, full court “run and gun” brand of basketball.  The girls are playing to have fun and continue to gain more experience while being exposed to playing teams outside of the Colonial League.  But most of all the girls are hard workers, having fun, always laughing on and off the court.  “We take the game seriously, but we definitely enjoy ourselves while doing it” Senior Jessica Boos said.  The next time you are inspired to see a competitive, fun basketball game with famalier faces, come out and support the UMBT girls’ basketball team!  Players on the roster are Seniors Laura Berry and Jessica Boos; Juniors Tori Poliskiewicz, Mariah Mulitsch, Erin Pruett, Rebecca Jensen, Danielle Gornick, and Lindsey Chaffier; Sophomores Sarah Mackey and Katherine Salvemini.  Junior Lindsey Weidlick helps out at practices.
