Emergency Management Coordinator’s (EMC) of the Slate Belt Council of Governments

Live Drill Exercise A Success!

The Emergency Management Coordinator Group from the Slate Belt region developed and sponsored a “live drill” exercise that took place on April 26, 2008.  The objective was to learn from the drill and to implement National Incident Management System (NIMS) procedures for emergencies during an actual event.

The regions Emergency Services, Fire, EMS, and other agencies participated in large numbers.  The focus of the drill was a simulated emergency that took place in the Slate Belt area and involved most if not all the areas resources.  The Bangor Area School District schools were included in the live drill, allowing testing of their in-house emergency response as well.

The live drill was coordinated with Northampton County Emergency Services and the 911 Center as well as PEMA.
